Privacy policy
Effective July 24, 2026
This policy explains how Embento LLC handles information for Byahi, including byahi.ph and the Byahi Driver Android application.
Information we collect
On the passenger website, Byahi records limited anonymous usage information so we can understand whether the service is useful. This includes a random identifier for the current browser session, the type of page or action, a route code when a route is opened, the category and number of route-search results, an allowlisted reason when no route is found, and a broad traffic-source category such as direct, Google, Facebook, Reddit, another referring site, or a tagged campaign. A short campaign label and the landing-page category may also be recorded.
Passenger analytics do not contain IP addresses, browser or device fingerprints, GPS coordinates, driver credentials, full referring URLs, or the words entered into a search box. Byahi does not record these analytics when a browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.
When an authorized driver uses Byahi Driver, we process:
- Driver account identifiers, name, assigned routes, and active trip records.
- Precise GPS location, accuracy, speed, direction, timestamp, route, trip identifier, and an Android device identifier while a trip is active.
- Operational records needed to diagnose rejected or delayed location updates.
Camera access is used only on the device to scan a Byahi route or vehicle QR code. Byahi does not upload photographs or video from the camera.
Background location
Byahi Driver collects precise location while a driver has an active trip, including when the app is in the background or the screen is off. A persistent Android notification is shown during tracking. Tracking stops when the driver ends the trip.
How we use information
- Measure anonymous passenger sessions and which public features are useful.
- Show a participating bus's current location to passengers and dispatchers.
- Associate a location report with the correct route and active trip.
- Protect the service from fraudulent or invalid tracking reports.
- Diagnose service, connectivity, and GPS problems.
The public passenger map identifies the bus or route, not the driver's name or driver code. Byahi does not sell personal information and does not use driver location for advertising.
Sharing and service providers
Current bus location may be displayed publicly while it is fresh and associated with an active trip. We use infrastructure providers, including hosting and database providers, to operate Byahi. They process data on our behalf. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect users and the service.
Retention
Anonymous passenger analytics are automatically deleted after 90 days. The browser session identifier is stored only in session storage and expires when the browser session ends.
The live-position record keeps the most recent location for a tracking device and is replaced by newer reports. It is removed from the public live view after it becomes stale. Raw accepted and rejected telemetry diagnostic logs are deleted after 48 hours. Driver and trip administration records are retained while needed for the operator relationship, security, dispute resolution, and legal obligations.
Security and driver choices
Location is transmitted over HTTPS. Drivers must deliberately start a trip, can see the persistent tracking notification, and can stop collection by tapping End trip. Operators can deactivate a driver account. Drivers may also remove location permission using Android settings.
Requests and contact
To ask a privacy question or request access, correction, or deletion of driver account information, contact Embento LLC at clint@embento.com. Some trip or security records may be retained where required for legitimate operational or legal purposes.
Changes
We may update this policy as Byahi changes. The effective date above identifies the current version.
